Level 1 Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health (RQF) - 4 hours
This half day course is aimed at providing the delegate with the knowledge to identify suspected mental health conditions, the skills to start a conversation and be able to signpost the person towards professional help. The course includes the following: • What is First Aid for Mental Health? • Identifying mental health conditions • Providing advice and starting a conversation • Stress • Mental Health conditions Certificates are valid for 3 years; however it is recommended that an annual refresher course is attended. Assessment of the course is through multiple choice questions.
Level 2 First Aid for Mental Health
(RQF) - 6 hours
This one day course covers all in the 4 hour course, but also expands on the effects of drugs and alcohol, incorporates the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan and covers ways in which a positive mental health culture can be supported within a workplace. The course includes the following: • What is First Aid for Mental Health? • Identifying mental health conditions • Providing advice and starting a conversation • Stress • Mental Health conditions • Drugs and alcohol • First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan • First Aid for Mental Health in the Workplace Certificates are valid for 3 years; however it is recommended that an annual refresher course is attended. Assessment includes practical activities and both open and multiple choice questioning.
Level 3 Supervising First Aid for Mental Health (RQF) - 12 hours
This two day course is aimed at Trainer/Assessors and/or Supervisor level within the workplace. The course covers all in the 6 hour course, but also goes into detail on a wide range of mental health conditions and the support and help provided by healthcare professionals. The course includes the following: • What is First Aid for Mental Health? • Identifying mental health conditions • Providing advice and starting a conversation • Stress • Mental Health conditions • Drugs and alcohol • First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan • First Aid for Mental Health in the Workplace • Depression • Post-traumatic stress disorder • Self-harm • Suicide • Eating disorders • Personality disorders • Bipolar disorder • Psychosis • Schizophrenia • Anxiety • Certificates are valid for 3 years; however it is recommended that an annual refresher course is attended. Assessment of the course includes practical activities and both open and multiple choice questions.
